"When are you open?"

About: Cheltenham General Hospital

Anything else?

The website simply says that A&E is part of Gloucestershire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and keep getting redirected around. Opening hours ought to be included so a wasted journey to Cheltenham can be avoided. My understanding is that this site is here to assist patients. I'm looking for that information in a potentially emergency situation. This site frustrates that objective.

Hi, I'm sorry you've been having some trouble finding out what our opening hours are for A&E on this site. Both our Emergency Departments (A&E) continue to be open 24 hours a day. Although most emergency ambulances no longer come to Cheltenham Emergency Department between 8pm-8am, walk-in and GP-referred patients are still seen at Cheltenham Emergency Department (and admitted when appropriate) 24/7. At night time, patients continue to be assessed (as they were previously) by our experienced team of Emergency Nurse Practitioners (ENPs) who may then refer to our team of acute physicians. At night time, if patients call an ambulance, colleagues in the ambulance trust will assess the patient and take them to the safest, most appropriate hospital for their care and treatment. I hope this answers your query. If not please do get in touch directly at comms@glos.nhs.uk
