"toddler with High fever & spots on tongue"

About: East Surrey Hospital

Anything else?

My grandaughter was taken in by her parents to A&E at 9:30pm because she has a high fever and spots on tongue, she hasn't eaten all day and not drinking much and she is still waiting to be seen by a doctor. - time now 01:56. Only pray she gets seen by a doctor soon as this is the second time she has gone into hospital in the last 24hrs. So no I would not recommend anyone to this hospital

I am sorry to read your comment. I do hope your granddaughter is okay and feeling better now. I will ask the Paediatric Emergency Department to check there was not an issue with the service when your granddaughter was brought in, but without knowing the details, what normally happens is that children are taken straight through to the dedicated children's A&E where they are quickly assessed, and then seen by the consultant in order of priority. If your granddaughter was waiting, then it is normally because there are other children requiring more urgent medical attention. I appreciate it must have been very worrying for you as grandparents waiting at home. If I find out anything different happened that night to cause the wait, then I will let you know straight away.

Many thanks for your comment, Eloise, Communications.
