Absolutely delighted when I attended an orthopedic clinic on Tuesday 13th August 2013 at Hertford County Hospital. Expecting delays for my 16.10 appointment I was seen on time by a registrar and was sent for an x-ray immediately after. On returning to reception I was then directed to and seen by a consultant within 5 minutes. Following a detailed consultation when my condition was fully discussed I was then seen by a triage nurse who carried out the necessary preoperative checks, eg blood pressure, BMI measurements etc. Lastly my health questionnaire was checked by another nurse who typed my details on the computer. Meeting these various staff saved additional visits at other times to another hospital QE2. Carrying out the process in this way saved me time and effort and also saved time and effort for NHS staff and resources. I was one of the last patients to leave the clinic at about 17.30. Also worth noting that the surroundings at HCH are pleasant and the staff helpful. Well done to Hertford County Hospital. Hopefully my experience when having my operation with the same consultant at QE2 will be equally positive.
