Anything else?
I did not think I would like being in hospital very much, but my experience giving birth at St Michael's has changed my view! I gave birth to my first baby boy at the end of July 2013. I went in early in labour as I could not feel baby moving. The staff on the delivery suite were welcoming and kind. Baby started moving soon after being monitored, but I was not pressured to go home if I did not want to. I chose to go home, and went back in later to give birth. The midwife who led the birth was amazing. I felt so supported throughout my delivery, which was quick and normal. The aftercare I received on ward 71 was also brilliant! The midwives were fully supportive throughout the night and helped me to learn to breastfeed properly. They had so many patients to look after, and I felt nervous about bothering them with little questions, but they always helped me and I never felt like I was rushed and could talk through any concern I had however big or small. I felt confident and happy when they discharged me with my happy baby. I had to go back a few days later due to waterworks problems, and again they were really kind and accommodating. A few emergencies came in while I was waiting, but they kept me up to date and gave me food while I was waiting for the doctor. I would definitely recommend the care given by the staff of St Michael's. I am no longer so nervous of hospitals, and would definitely go for St Michaels again if I have another babe!
