Anything else?
I made my birthing plan prior to going into labour which consisted of a water birth and little intervention! However when I arrived at the hospital I was told that there were none available! I was then offered a bath in a room with no windows and told my husband could not come with me! This did not put me in the right frame of mind at all so feeling completely unrelaxed I got out and went back to my room ! I had also written that i did not want to give birth in bed lying on my back however the midwives told me that this was the most convienient way! However I then struggled to push and my baby had shoulder discotia which resulted in me bejng cut and the use of s ventusse which was absolutely petrifying! I ended up needing a spinal anaesthetic afterwards and I just feel as though none of the midwifes actually listening to my birthing preferences ! Thankfully my little boy is healthy and happy and this is also clearly due to the care that we received! However I do feel as though If my preferences had been listened to my birthing experience may resulted in far less intervention and far less stress and concern! I also wanted skin to skin contact but because of everything that happened he was whisked off and my husband did not even get to cut the cord!
"Thankfully a healthy baby in the end"
