"Nurse was competent and professional"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Clipped right leg with a chainsaw whilst climbing a tree.

The triage nurse was competent and professional. However, the waiting time could be improved.

Dear 'Padlz'

Thank you for posting a comment about your experienmce. I'm glad you were happy with the care you received. Unfortunately our Emergency Department can get very busy and although we try and treat all patients within four hours, it isnt always possible due to the number of medical emergencies in the department at that time. There are some alternatives to East Surrey Hospital's A&E, which is designed for very critical illnesses and injuries. There is a walk-in urgent treatment centre at Crawley Hospital, and minor injury units at Horsham and Caterham hospitals. I dont know where you live, but you might have been seen quicker at one of these other facilities. I hope you leg is getting better.

Ellie
