After suffering for six years with a prolapse and fecal incontinence I plucked up the courage to visit my GP. I had expected an operation and other invasive procedures, but was referred to the Gynaecological Physiotherapist. I didn't even know there was such a person! As you can imagine, talking about my problem is acutely embarrassing and I was not looking forward to the appointment. I really cannot describe how fantastic the whole experience was. I felt at ease immediately and was able to discuss my symptoms without embarrassment or shame. The Gynaecological Physiotherapist was thoroughly professional, yet it was like confiding in my best friend. She was so kind and understanding and gave me, above anything, hope that I might have a better future. I left after about an hour and a half, with a list of things to discuss with my GP, exercises and a diet sheet. I also had a thorough examination. I have just had my second visit, a month after the first, and with exercise, some dietary restrictions and a little medication I feel like a new woman. It is amazing. I have worn panty pads every day and night for six years and had a restricted lifestyle, simply because I was too embarrassed to discuss my problem. She has really helped me to live life to the full again. I cannot speak too highly about every aspect of her care. Today, at my second visit, I did not need to wear a protective pad. I can hardly believe it. I would urge any woman with a similar problem to ask to be referred to this Gynaecological Physiotherapist, she has worked miracles! Thank you.
