"I would just like to say how friendly ..."

About: King's Mill Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I would just like to say how friendly and caring the staff were during my recent stay in Abbot Ward. Everyone working there whether medical or housekeeping contributed to a very supportive atmosphere which was most appreciated. The porter, holding bay and anaesthetic staff were also very reassuring on my way to theatre.

What could be improved

The only negative was the length of time it took to wait for a bed. I arrived for pre-op day at 8.30am and did not get a bed until 8.45pm. I think this may be due to hold-ups with patients being discharged waiting for medication to be sent up from the pharmacy. Perhaps this might be worth looking at?

Many thanks for your comments about our services, which have been passed on to the staff of Abbot Ward. While we cannot comment on individual patients, we can say that when our ladies who arrive for pre-op assessment are informed they need an operation the following day, they are given the choice of waiting in the day room until the evening, when a bed will become available, or coming back the next day. Some ladies stay during the day, for a variety of reasons, and we provide a reclining chair, free meals, TV, books and a magazine service in our comfortable day room. We welcome your feedback, and are really pleased you found our services and staff so positive and supportive.
