"X-Ray delays"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Respiratory medicine

(as the patient),

I too have suffered a less than satisfactory service from East Surrey Hospitals X-Ray department. I was booked in for a chest X-ray on the middle of July. The wait to have my X-ray taken was minimal and was all undertaken without any fuss. I was told to book an appointment with my GP in 5 days to discuss the results.

It wasn't until the first week of August, almost a month later, that my GP was finally given the results. She kindly rang me at home to let me know

How can it take a month for the results of what is a digital X-Ray, available directly after my visit, to reach to my GP?

Dear 'snapperk'

I am very sorry about the delay in you getting your X-ray results. Please be assured that this is not the usual level of service we expect to deliver and is the result of several technical issues that arose after we had to install a new picture archiving and radiology information system. We had planned for, and expected a certain level of disruption during the install of the new system, but the impact on our Radiology service has been much greater than anticipated. We now have the suppliers onsite to resolve the issues as a matter of urgency, so that we can resume our normal level of service as soon as possible. I am very sorry for the delay you have experienced.

Eloise
