"I am a carer for a young patient ..."

About: King's Mill Hospital

(as a relative),

What could be improved

I am a carer for a young patient who visits the childrens centre every week. And every week we have to walk through a wall of smoke past the main entrance of the Dukeries building, cigarette butts litter the flour and the small bike shed at the side is full.!!!! But it was the bad laugage from smoking patients in front of my child that has made me write to you. Why has it been over a year since you started the smoking ban are groups of people still smoking outside the main doors, we as non smokers are still made to breath smoke to access your hospital. And can you ban bad laugage in front of under 16's on your site ??? and lastly banning of alcohol as seeing patients at 8.30 in the morning drinking larger could fuel the bad laugage.

Thank you for your comments. We do ask people to consider other hospital users and not to smoke on site, and our staff do challenge people who ignore the many notices, but there are a number of people who ignore both signs and staff and continue with this antisocial behaviour. We unfortunately do not have any legal powers of enforcement against these people, other than to appeal to their good nature and respect other people's health. The same applies to littering on site.
