NHS Day surgery hernia repair July 2013. Beforehand, a notably reassuring and thorough pre-op assessment by nurse settled any nerves and addressed all my questions. On the day, the op took place promptly without the usual delays that typically occur in a busy general hospital. Everyone was friendly, personable and very calm. Later, our follow up phone calls were dealt with promptly by knowledgable staff who knew who I was and addressed concerns. The surgery appears to have been very effective with a rapid recovery and without post op infections. In contrast to the experience of other reviewers, my wife who accompanied me, was well looked after with tea and a light meal cheerfully offered. As an NHS patient the wait of some two and a half months from consultation to surgery was just about acceptable.
