I have been seen by students and staff (both dental and hygienist) for the past three years, being dx. now due to moving out of county. I have seen mianly the same members of staff who have always made me feel supported, my dental problems are a result of health problems I had in the past and have caused me a great deal of distress, pain and embarrasment. From my first appointment I was made to feel supported and involved in my own treatment, from simple things as being allowed to take my ipod in while having a long appointment, from having complex procedures explained in detail to help me understand what exactly would be happening in my mouth. Each visit I've made to CCDH has helped me, and the students I have seen have always made sure to keep me up to date (if I'd be seeing another student/worker next session, what progress had been made) with my treatment, if I've had any problems they've been quick to ask and I couldn't have recieved better care while using this service and am quick to recommend. I'm now unashamed of my teeth, which I was previously as it was a reminder of a darker time in my life were I battled with an eating disorder. Now I have a smile again, and its due to the brilliant work of the staff and students here. I only have one criticism of CCDH and it is the approach and manner of some of the dentistry tutors, talking about patients as if they are not in the room, being made to feel guilty about my teeth and I was spoken to in an aggressive manner for mentioning the work I was recieving was causing me pain. If you are teaching and supervising unqualified workers it is important to remember you're the person they might learn bad habits off; and also you have your hands in my mouth. - Its just plain rude. Overall, its a brilliant establishment and all the staff and teams there should be proud of the work they do.
