"Respiratory ward 23 6 week stay"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

Anything else?

I have a history of recurrent admissions to RLI, over prescribing of steroids and a huge medication list prompted a referral to the chest clinic. The Consultant saw me in clinic on 20 June and 6 days later he had a bed for me. Not convinced my difficulties were solely down to asthma he began a rigorous number of tests and procedures. After 6 weeks I am going home with the non invasive ventilator I need and a much reduced medication list. Importantly I am off the predniisolone , I could not have done it at home. No stone has been left unturned , I have vocal chord dysfunction for which I will get therapy. The drs and nursing team work well together with only occasional lapses in communication, there is real care and compassion from the consultant down to HCAs, the staff are overworked but remain cheerful and friendly. A pharmacist on the ward has been a great new introduction. I have been impressed by what the NHS at its best can do. Well done to all concerned.
