What I liked
I have been a patient at Lincoln several tiems in the last few yrs unfortunately- sometimes the care and treatment I recieved was fantastic, and other times I dont think it could have been much worse. The nursing staff were almost without exception fantastic, on every occasion I visited.
What could be improved
Having been assessed at A and E with severe abdominal pains and with a history of abdominal problems I was admitted. Pain controlled well- nursing staff fantastic-until a few days later the consultant saw me. Referring to old scars from self harm he turned to the other staff saying- well she needs a psychiatrist- not us- I dont waste my time on little girls behaving like this- telling staff to stop the morphine. All i can say is that the nursing staff were amazing- had me back on pain relief and transferred to a different consultant, who thankfully treated the actual problem (not my mental state!). If i had been able to stand and walk out at the time i saw the 1st consultant i would have; i felt humiliated, misunderstood, and it was not fair. Past mental health problems does not mean you cannot be physically unwell and vice verca. However, after changing consultant I was treated with dignity and respect, and staff were more than empathetic to the situation.the nursing staff restored my faith in approaching the nhs if I needed to in the future.
