"Haematology review"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

Anything else?

This was the 1st time I have attended the hospital and the letter said to go to main reception first. The queues here were bad and I was directed to leave the queue and go straight to the department, there was no warning that the haematology department was in the cancer centre in the basement. I was on my own and this did worry me. My Dr was 1 hour late due to emergencies but after this the service was excellent, I was included in decision making and given all the details I asked for. I also had to see the xray department on 2 occasions and the people were friendly and accommodating to make appointments conveniently for me. The appointments were on time, went very smoothly and were relaxed. I would recommend a review of the invite letters to the appointments to help relieve some of the anxiety that I initially experienced, when I was already worked up at having to attend in the first place. But other than that I would go back to this hospital if all departments work in the same way.

Thank you for your comments. It is good to hear you had a positive experience of care. Thank you for sharing your views about appointment letters. We recognise that our letters aren't always clear and so have recently reviewed both the content and the process for producing appointment letters. We have hundreds of template letters so are still working through some changes but hope to improve these significantly in the coming months. We hope you are well, best wishes.
