My mother and I were visiting in the UK as a holiday trip to celebrate her birthday. On the third day of the tour, I fell down the steps of the tour coach and sustained a fractured femur. I was taken by ambulance to Salisbury Hospital. I was treated in the ambulance and given medication to relieve some of the pain. The paramedic was so kind and caring to both m mother and me. Upon arrival at the hospital, I was seen immediately by the medical staff, had several tests, and was moved from the emergency area to a room. The medical staff was additionally concerned since I had experienced a heart attack the previous January. so and echocardiogram was also administered. The chief physician met with me to discuss the results of the testing and said he recommended surgery to insert a pin/rod the following morning. And so it proceeded. All members of the staff are to be commended for their excellent care, even the man who emptied the 'bin' treated me with care and respect. I wanted for nothing. In fact, my mother was able to find accomodation on site although she ultimately went to a local hotel, since the 'bungalow' was rather isolated during the week-end. While an accident during a vacation can be an unpleasant experience, everyone rallied around to make me and my mother as comfortable and relaxed as possible. I am most grateful to all. FYI, upon review of the x-rays, my doctor here in Florida said this was a perfect operation and he could not have done any better. I have two more sessions of Physical Therapy and have given up the walker and use a cane just for security. My thanks and complements to you all!
