"Poor experience of care after 1st baby"

About: Kettering General Hospital

Anything else?

I am writing on behalf of my daughter who had her first baby in this hospital in July Her experience was not a good one and has left her feeling very concerned about any future care she may be required to have in this hospital. She required a Caesarian section following induced labour and foetal distress. Although this is not the desired outcome to her pregnancy she was very accepting that this was required for her safety and that of her baby. However the care she received afterwards was far from optimal! General ward upkeep and hygiene was poor, food was appalling and we were required to take food in to supplement. Some staff were very helpful but generally there seemed to be a lack of care and information was sparse Following a post operative infection my daughters main concern was that she may be readmitted !

It is with great regret that you feel you have not had a positive experience during your time at Kettering Hospital and I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any upset that this may have caused to you and your family. We do work hard to try to ensure that care given is of a high standard and that mums feel involved in their care. It is clear form your comments that you feel this did not happened for you. We really appreciate the opportunity to improve the service we provide and very much value any feed back that can help us to achieve this. We offer a Debriefing service that you may feel would benefit you to discuss and further understand any specific aspects of the care you received. Please contact Polly Leigh, In Patient Matron on 01536 492902 or Nicki Perry, Delivery Suite Manager on 01536 491594 to arrange a meeting. Alternatively you can contact the Rowan Ward Manager, Sarah Berrill, directly on 01536 492916 to further discuss your concerns.
