"Fantastic care but to hot no fans or ac"

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

Anything else?

My wife and I were booked in at Frimley for this birth of our baby via C section. The care and staff were second to none but the facilities were shocking. The maternity wards are completely over crowded,6 beds on a room built for 4. There is only 62 cm between each bay with curtains pulled. The major and I mean major let down was the lack of air cooling. In a room where most of the women and babies were fresh out of surgery the ward was running at over 27.5'c which for a modern trust and NHS is absolutely unacceptable. My wife a a number of the other women there were extremely uncomfortable and did not have a good recovery due to the heat. All it need is for a few fans to be put onto the ward but the only ones we could see where, surprise surprise in the midwifes section. You need to fix this issue Frimley. You care is fantastic but your facilities need a drastic update!

Thank you for providing us with some very valuable feedback. We are pleased that you found the care from our staff to be second to none. However we are very sorry that you felt the conditions on the ward were not acceptable. As you know we have been experiencing some of the hottest weather for several years and it has been a challenge to maintain reasonable temperatures on many of the wards. In light of the recent heatwave we are reviewing how we keep temperatures down on the ward and we have made sure that the staff involved in this review are aware of your comments. You may also be interested to know that we are currently refurbishing sections of our maternity department to improve the environment.
