"Atleast a few of the nurses and ..."

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

(as a relative),

What I liked

Atleast a few of the nurses and doctors on the ward are perfectly attentive and caring. Unfortunately they seem to be in minority. (Fair enough they are all overworked and underpaid, but you go into these jobs with your eyes open).

What could be improved

Everything.

Care - majority of staff seem to view patients and patient relatives with disdain. Cleanliness is appalling - lift 5 has had a large smear all over the mirror for the last fortnight. Even worse, cleanliness of patients is appalling - my fathers sheets are only changed when we demand it and he is left in his mess all day (including when eating meals). This is unacceptable - an ill man will not get better if he has to suffer the indignity of lying in his own urine (and worse) all day and that a nurse should tell my mother he is to eat is breakfast before it can be changed, is simply abhorrent.

Nothing gets done unless you nag and nag at the staff to do it.

The design of the hospital is terrible - not enough lifts, too much dead space, signage is extremely poor (as a graphic designer I'm well qualified to comment on that one) it communicates only with itself, and what is that lobby area all about?! The money spent on all the 'art' should have been spent on the staff and patient service.

Terrible place.

Dear Mark,

Thank you for your feedback. You have raised some extremely concerning issues relating to patient care and cleanliness at our hospital. Could you please contact us on 0115 9709975 to let us know which ward you visited so we can look into this as a matter of urgency.

Many thanks,
