"Stroke patients deserve more urgent treatment and..."

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital

Anything else?

My GP sent me to Worcester Royal Hospital A and E after I suffered a stroke. The following is a list of unsatisfactory treatment. Not seen by a stroke specialist for 5 hours in a chaotic A and E department. 2 hours spent on a trolley. Given a CT scan but no MRI scan until a week later in Kidderminster. Department lost my shoes and procedure for insertion of a drip was poor. Admitted on the stroke ward for one night, where care was good but discharge took 3 hours as a doctor could not be found to authorise it. My overall impression was that the A and E department and the hospital found it extremely difficult to cope with the number of patients, some of whom in my opinion could have been treated in walk in centres , leaving A and E for the serious cases.
