The nursing team at Basingstoke Hospital are polite friendly and most proffesional. The surgical team did a great job with regards the removal of a cyst on my finger. This was done under local anaesthetic. My only concern after having to operations is the time they advise you before you should have a new dressing. On both ocassions they adviced 2 weeks. After the first ope the stitches were so tight and the area was not smelling to good - as someone who heals well i find myself with scares - I can only presume this is the reason. On the last ocassion again 2 weeks after 10 days it just didnt feel right so had it checked and again it is all soppy and while the stitches have been removed i have to go back again in 4 days as the nurse at my local surgery didnt look so impressed at the outcome. Why are Surgeons insisting on 2 weeks. I trust the healthcare system but will now always have any surgery re dressed after 7 days - as i am beginning to think that this is a cost cutting initiative.
