"The Healthy Routes Programme"

About: City Health Care Partnership CIC / Active Lifestyles Service

(as the patient),

Ten months ago I decided that I needed to do something about my weight, energy levels and mood. I had become a full time carer in 2009 and had become very exhausted, over weight and depressed. I asked my doctor to put me on the Healthy Routes Programme.

Today I completed the course and met my advisor for the last time. I have lost just under 1 stone and five pounds. I am very much more energised and ready to cope and getting prepared to lose the next stone on my own. Thanks to Healthy Routes and Lisa, my advisor, I am a regular at the gym and exercise class, which if you had known me in the past would have been pretty unbelievable. I am far more active at home too, having painted the lower ground floor rooms myself. Thus also saving money that can be put to better purposes.

As a carer, I am finding it easier to manage emotionally which is better for both me and my husband.

I can not recommend this course enough. As well as giving you a chance to exercise cheaply, it also explodes myths about healthy eating. Even at 64 I was discovering about healthy eating and ways of cooking that were new to me. It also shook me out of bad eating and cooking habits. My advisor was helpful and encouraging. I only wish I'd done something similar years ago.
