"People like Richard make the world a better place"

(as a relative),

My husband was taken from Weston to the Bristol Royal Infirmary by ambulance. The service was absolutely excellent.

The ambulance was due at 7: 30am. The driver, Richard, goes the extra mile to ensure patients are okay. He rang us 10 minutes before he arrived, said "I'll be with you in 10" and turned up on time. He then helped my husband on to the ambulance.

As soon as I opened the door Richard had a smile on his face. Nothing was too much trouble for him. It is one of those situations where you need reassurance. I was concerned how my husband would deal with the situation but Richard helped immensely.

The BRI itself was absolutely no problem. When we arrived, Richard insisted on pushing my husband to where he had to go within the hospital.

He was so caring, understanding and treated my husband with dignity. He was born to be in this job and I just want to say thank you to him.

On the way back he picked up another patient and treated her exactly the same. It's people like him that make this world a better place.

Hi Label494

What a wonderful story! Thank you for taking the time to share it with us and I hope your husband is well.

It is always very rewarding to hear stories to confirm that our staff are continuing to provide excellent care to patients and their families when they need it most.

I will share your story with our staff and managers. I would also like to pass on your comments to Richard directly. In order for me to do this I will need a little bit more information from you. May I ask you to contact me on 01392 261 552 or sara.coburn@swast.nhs.uk at your convience.

Thank you, again.

Sara
