Anything else?
I was admitted to SRU a few weeks back. I suffer from social phobia and PTSD. Although I was in extreme pain my anxiety levels were through the roof, this did not help my physical symptoms. I only wish I could pay for a private room as I now have a phobia of hospitals due to my experience. I understand this is a unusual position for nursing staff to deal with but perhaps some further training in mental health could benefit the staff and patient. Due to my PTSD the noise of medical machines and unfamiliar people made me scared and wanting to leave despite being in extreme pain. I'm sure I'm not the only one with mental health issues that come to a medical ward, I only wish people like myself were more understood within the hospital. I know the nurses are stretched but must say my short stay was scary and something I don't look forward in repeating.
