"Poor staff care attitude and Waiting time"

About: Solihull Hospital

Anything else?

I couldn't believe hearing an auxiliary nurse standing next to a colleague tell a patient asking for assistance to go to the toilet that they couldn't help as they were just finishing their shift!!!! It was 7.25pm, another patient told me they change over at 7.30pm!! My husband went to,the nurses' station and the pair were informally chatting, arm in arm, to the nurses. On his complaining that a patient needed help the staff nurse promptly asked one of the auxiliaries to assist which she did but sarcastically exclaiming out loud "we have to go home sometime". Absolutely disgraceful attitude, and shameful to those genuine NHS employees who genuinely work hard with endeavour and empathy. The NHS is a magnificent resource we must never lose but it's people that make an organisation thrive and it's every employees' responsibility to give their best whatever the circumstances. Treat everyone as you would like to be treated is my rule of thumb and should be for every being within the nhs system at all levels we all count!!! Having earlier in the same week been faced with rudeness and lack of empathy by more than one NHS employee including a staff nurse, a male doctor in AMU, a 9 hours wait for my very poorly father to be admitted I've lost a huge level of confidence in the NHS. At times I have felt invisible. There are thankfully still some very genuine and caring nurses and doctors that I have also faced this week, the inconsistencies are quite shocking though. Why on earth are these not being addressed by senior staff - courtesy costs nothing so cuts are no excuse to stroppy attitudes and bad manners!
