Anything else?
I have had both my daughters at Harrogate District Hospital, the second just last week following the first exactly 2 years ago. I cannot recommend the department highly enough. The service has been brilliant, from first scans, consultant care and advice all the way through to us leaving hospital. With my first baby I ended up being in hospital for nearly a week - 4 days prior to the birth due to my waters breaking early but me not going into labour, then 3 days after following a semi-elective C section (once induction hadn't worked). The staff were fantastic - caring, supportive, encouraging, helpful and just generally lovely. The surgeon, anaesthetist and theatre staff were amazing and my C section went really well - my scar was just a pencil line after less than a week and was completely healed quickly after a matter of just a few weeks. My community midwives are not from Harrogate as we live outside the area, but after such a good experience I didn't hesitate to choose the same hospital for my second birth. This time I opted for a C section, which I was booked in for on August 1st, but once again my waters broke 3 weeks early (this time contractions did start). Again, the staff were fantastic from beginning to end - literally everyone I met over the 2 days I was in hospital was amazing. A special mention to the Infant Feeding Co-ordinator, who was extremely helpful, and all the staff who were able to advise and help me breast feed during those first few hours and days. Nothing about having a baby is straightforward or easy but I really can't speak highly enough of my experience at Harrogate on both occasions. Once again my scar is barely a pencil line and the dissolvable stitches mean I haven't had to do anything since leaving hospital. In a few weeks I know it will be barely noticeable. Thank you so much to everyone - the midwifery team is wonderful. Jenny
