"Garden area neglected & filthy."

About: Moseley Hall Hospital

Anything else?

My mother was recently admitted to Moseley Hall following a stroke. She was also admitted about 5 years ago and then she enjoyed sitting in the garden area. When I have visited her this time I was shocked to see how dirty & neglected the garden is now. It is carpeted with cigarette ends & other litter & appears not to have been swept for months. The ashtrays are overflowing & there is no control over where smokers sit so it is impossible to find anywhere in the shade without being subjected to sidestream smoke. The rest of the grounds seem to be well cared for so I don't understand why the garden can't be kept clean (as well as weeded, etc.) If I did not live overseas I would volunteer to clean it up myself as a lot could be done with a morning's work. The garden is important to patients. Please don't leave it looking like a neglected pub carpark.

I am sorry the hospital garden area was not maintained as well as you had expected. Your feedback has been forwarded to the relevant manager to ensure appropriate action is taken to tidy the area. As you may imagine the recent run of excellent summer weather has meant that the garden has seen a higher than usual numbers of patients and visitors make use of the facilities, which is likely to have caused the conditions you have described. Thank you for taking time to let us know.
