"Maternity Unit - Sent home when contraction 45..."

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital

Anything else?

I went in to have my third baby and was sent home when contractions were only 45 seconds apart, I was in so much pain tears were rolling down my face, only thing the midwife seemed concerned about was the fact that they were very quiet and she wanted a brew and chat with other midwives. I was not going to post this complaint as head of midwifery came to see me and apologised and assured me that this was an isolated incident and that the midwife had only been with them 5 months, but this is not an isolated incident as it has since happened to my friends niece and three other people that I have been told about. When I was turned away from the hospital the midwife showed no concern or empathy at all she was like a robot. My husband ended up delivering the baby at home not long after we got back. It was so scary, I was a high risk patient and told I could not have a home birth because of complications. Luckily everything was OK and my little boy was fine but anything could have happened. I was very near a breakdown with everything that had happened and I could not bring myself to go back to the hospital, we had the newborn hearing check and paediatric check done at the medical centre due to the fact I burst into tears every time I thought of returning to the hospital. I would not recommended trying to have your baby at this hospital.
