We would like to say what a positive experience we have had recently from Tameside Hospital with our newborn son. He was admitted to the children's unit when only three days old and had a hospital stay of three days. As new parents we obviously found this a very daunting experience and we would like to convey our sincere thanks to the staff on the unit for their compassion and professionalism. Our minds were put at ease by each member of staff we met, from the lady's who settled us in, to the doctors, nurses and support staff. We would like to say a particular thanks to our nurses Natalie (for the support and biscuits throughout the first night) Mary (for her empathy and understanding during a stressful time) and Karen (for keeping us smiling). We would also like to thank Dr Mark Hamilton for his down to earth approach. All staff explained procedures to us, spoke to our son throughout and answered any questions we had.
We then experienced the service from the outpatient department two weeks later. Again, each staff member we met were friendly, professional and put our minds at ease. We would particularly like to thank Helen Howard for her advice and support. Her guidance and genuine caring nature were very much appreciated.
We were able to access services within the hospital, at home and we are now benefiting from sustained support through our local childrens centre. We really feel that we got a fantastic service from Tameside and its staff. It is often the small details and personable approach that can make the difference to a service and we are grateful for the care we received.
