"Nuclear medicine bone scan 25.7.13"

About: Royal Free Hospital

Anything else?

I attend the Royal Free Hospital regularly and I am an inpatient on the rheumatology ward for 5 days every 3 months. In 2011 i was treated for breast cancer at RF The service I have receive has always been excellent. Yesterday I went to nuclear medicine for my 3 rd bone scan in 3 years. My previous experiences in earlier years have been positive Yesterday I felt like a slab of meat. A bone scan is not pleasant. Staff would do well to put themselves in the position of the patient and try to imagine how that person may be feeling. By essence the patient is under some kind of stress and worry as to whether there is a serious underlying problem. Please talk to the patient during the process Explain when the process has started Say " I will tell you when we start" I asked for this but was ignored. Please give progress reports eg "we are doing well" " About half way through" " About another 5 minutes" All of this would be very helpful In previous visits this has been my experience. Do not consider a career in the medical profession if you are not prepared to consider patients feelings
