""Bedside manner""

About: Broomfield Hospital

Anything else?

When my mother, who is 81, complained that the taking of blood pressure was hurting her arm the nurse told her that she should have said she had a bad arm in the first place.... not sympathetic. . Later, when I required some clarification on information the same nurse had given me, she repeated it to me very slowly as though I was an idiot child. I don't know whether she was having a bad day or that is her usual demeanour, whichever , I consider it unsatisfactory. That said, both my mother and myself found the doctor himself very helpful and informative.

Thank you for the comments. The manner in which the nurse spoke to your mother and yourself is unacceptable regardless of whether she was having a bad day or not. We are working with a multi national retailer to deliver customer service training to our staff. I would like you to contact me so that the nurse can be made aware of her behaviour. jonathan.wright@meht.nhs.uk I would also like to know the doctors name so he can receive this praise. Best wishes
