Receptionists with attitude
Called into my GP surgery, as I had a query with my repeat prescription, the last request that had gone through to the chemist had the wrong information upon it and the pescription held two lots of different HRT medicine. Luckily the chemist (Co-op) who run the service of repeat prescription services had spotted this and sorted out the correct one.
I called into my GPs as I need more of the HRT medicine as I was due to run out shortly. I had noticed that the prescription for the correct medicine had only 2 months supply of tablets, where as the previous HRT medicine I was given 3 months.
I wanted to make sure I ordered the correct drug together with ensuring that I was given 3 months supply and not 2. Upon checking with the reception who ordered my prescription I did query why only two months and not three. I was told that thats what I had previously, and that was what I was entitled to. (she scrolled through the prescribing history as if I didnt know what I was talk about). This then was discussed with the other receptionist on the desk and she said also that usually you only get 2 months at a time prescribed with HRT. Loud enough so that everyone I felt in the waiting room knew that I was on HRT. I asked why and she said that was the way it was. I didnt feel that a receptionist would be in a position to discuss why and the where for as to why only 2 months. I then asked if this could be confirmed with my GP. She said she would do this. She then explained when the prescription would be ready, I thanked and left. Feeling dismissed upon walking out the door, the shutters to the reception area were slammed shut and I felt feeling I wished I never had queried, or indeed asked the receptionist for help.
Talk about caring and customer service, I felt not listened too and patronised then dismissed, will the lady receptionist discuss this information with the GP re the supply of the relevant drug who knows. I am left guessing till next time when I pluck up the courage to go into the GPs again and ask for a repeat prescription.
