"Cannot fault the service provided by all concerned"

The NHS has had a dreadful press recently . I would like to put the other side of the story.

My 92 year old mother had a fall at home in Leek in February. Friends called 999 and my mother was quickly taken to UHNS by ambulance. She was diagnosed with a fractured hip and underwent a half hip replacement within two days of admittance. She was treated with great care and respect. The plan was to move her from UHNS to a local Community hospital, but it was later decided that she should go home and receive support locally. She was supplied with several devices to make her recovery easier eg stair rails, walking frames and sticks etc.

For several weeks she received visits from the Community Intervention Service Team (up to 4 visits a day) to help with her dressing and personal hygiene etc and meal preparation. As her condition improved the visits were gradually reduced and she now she only has one 15 minute visit in the morning to help with dressing.

She is a retired nurse, and she has told me that she cannot fault the service provided by all concerned. There has been impressive liaison between the Ambulance Service, UHNS, the Leek Community Intervention Service Team, her GP, the District Nurse, the pharmacy, occupational therapists, Staffordshire Cares etc. This has been a great performance by all concerned. Well done!
