"Maternity services"

About: The James Cook University Hospital

Anything else?

My review is only regarding the maternity services at this hospital. My daughter was thankfully born healthy, and i can only thank the staff for this. However, i found myself feeling ignored as a mother because ' it's the baby that matters now'. I was obviously greatly concerned for my babies safety, but i felt my wishes were ignored and felt more like cattle than a person. One midwife had a terrible attitude, and was, on more than one occasion, quite rude.I felt she didn't want to be there. Unfortunately, i had an epidural, which contained Fentanyl and Bupivacaine which meant i was slightly drowsy and unable to ' fight my corner', which, unfortunately,i felt i needed to do. I would love more children, but after the experience from certain members of staff at this hospital, have decided not to.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your experience. I am very sorry you have had such a negative experience and I have forwarded your feedback to senior staff members within the Women & Children's Division for their urgent attention and action. In the meantime, I would be grateful if you could contact my office at your earliest convenience on 01642 854500, where we can discuss your concerns in more detail, and the options available to take your concerns further, should you wish to do so. Yours sincerley Mrs Linda Oliver Patient Experience Co-ordinator
