'The food on Cherry Ward is absolutely atrocious, to say it's a new building

'Not enough protein'

'I like the food but I'm a plain eater'

'Lots of food is thrown away' it's not very edible'

'Dry chips and cold'

'There's a lot of things I don't like'

'We would like cheesecake and ice cream for dessert'.

'They said we couldn't have ice cream as there was no freezer to store it'.

'The crumble has improved after we complained'

'The sponge pudding can be hard'

'I found 1 red kidney bean in the Shepherd's Pie! '

Along with the Head of Involvement (Paul Sanguinazzi), I am responsible for the Trusts two Involvement Centres, and our Volunteering and Befriending Service. I help to report all of the feedback we receive as a Trust to the Board.

Thank you to all the patients on Cherry Ward for giving us this feedback.

Food is always a difficult one to get right because everyone has different preferences (and allergies/intolerances) and though it seems trivial sometimes, food can have a huge impact on people's mood and well-being.

That said, we should be able to maintain a general standard that most patients are happy with, even if some specific meals are not to everyone's liking (I'm not sure whether the final patient wanted more kidney beans or less in their Shepherds Pie!)

I'll pass all these comments to the Service Manager for Cherry Ward, who I'm sure will have a conversation with the catering staff to see if there are any improvements we can make.
