The morning of the 21/07/2013, I walked into A&E at Watford Hospital, in excruciating dental pain which has been going on for two days whilst I was waiting for a dental appointment with my dentist, only to be turned away in the most pro active manner. I walked in an empty waiting room with two ladies at the reception chatting to two other ambulance staff and was told immediately that I should make my way to Hemel Hempstead as the waiting time here was two hours. For someone who is paying his taxes and never claimed a single penny from the government the only time I needed the NHS, they let me down. I ended up not going to Hemel as I was in such pain that I could not drive all the way and for the same reason I was not in a position to create any aggro and have the argument of being right away. My perception of A&E was that it was a generalist Accident & Emergency, and the tin should surely contain what is written on it. Well I had been proven wrong this morning by a lady (the name of whom I did not catch , as I was in such a pain) who was at the reception not to serve by to turn everyone away. She was even kind enough to write the address for me instead of using those crucial minutes wisely to provide me with some strong pain relief. I got home so disappointed and instructed my wife that if anything was to happened to me that my wish would be that NHS be sued for non assistance to an individual in danger. The behaviour is absolutely appalling and a disgrace to the medical practice system. Next time, I have an emergence, I will get a cab to a hospital in London where at least you will be treated and the long waiting time has a rationale behind it : they are busy assisting patients that have walked in because of an accident or an emergency...
