My 10 year old daughter was admitted to QMC Eye casualty on a Friday afternoon after failing to respond to antibiotics for an eye infection. With an hour she had been assessed and we were kept fully informed of what would happen next.
Over the next few hours she underwent a CT scan, admitted to a children's ward, seen seen by doctors from three different departments and underwent an operation around midnight.
I think we must have spoken with over 50 NHS staff in 24 hours and they kept us calm and reassured. She is still on the ward as I type this, receiving IV antibiotics and having daily visits to Eye Casualty. It has been fantastic that I have been able to sleep at the side of her each night with the nurses moving furniture around so that I could be in her line of vision.
We feel very lucky to have had and continue to receive such great care.
