Anything else?
Both my parents have sadly passed away now, but I just wanted to take the time to say how grateful I am for the care they received in Mary Baron and Rhys Lewis wards. The staff were working so hard to make life more comfortable and bearable for them and for me to feel included in the treatment plan. As my father was coming to the end of his life, I felt that the Liverpool Care Pathway was a constructive process and he was able to die with dignity. Maybe my experience in this hospital differs from the care in other establishments. I felt it was so important to have the day rooms available so I could have alone time or the possibility of talking to staff about how my father was doing. When the hospital moves, I sincerely hope that such facilities could be incorporated for families. The focus for my review is therefore not so much about the environment; which is obviously archaic, but to speak highly of the professionalism of staff, and the compassion shown to me at a very difficult time. Nothing was too much trouble and no question too ridiculous. When I stayed overnight I was made to feel comfortable. I wish staff all the best as they move into a time of change and in the light of the recent Frances Inquiry, would reassure them that their good practice is noticed by at least this family, if not many others.
