"Very happy with almost everything"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

Anything else?

I was admitted around midnight in mid march after attending A&E with extreme stomach cramps at 16 weeks pregnant. I was admitted very quickly and given pain relief. I was diagnosis within 2 hours with appendicitis. I cannot fault the hospital for how quickly they dealt with the situation. My operation to remove my appendix was scheduled for 11am the very next day. Staff were brilliant in monitoring my babies heartbeat before as well as straight after I came out of the operation. I spent 3 days on mulberry ward which was clean and bright. My pain was constantly monitored by all the staff and Both me and baby recovered quickly. The only thing I can fault is that staff attempted to give me a bed bath just 2 hours after I had been on the ward from my surgery which I did find a little distressing as I was still coming round properly from the anaesthetic. My only suggestion is that the staff ask patients whether it is ok to give them a bed bath instead of just going ahead and pulling at their clothes. However apart from this small issue I was extremely happy with my care and felt I was supported well at this difficult time. I look forward to having a positive birthing experience at this hospital in 4 weeks time

Thank you for writing such a super review on your visit to Darent Valley Hospital back in March. It is always lovely to hear such positive comments although we are sorry that you were not offered the choice as to whether you had a bed bath straight after your surgery. There may have been a reason that this was required, possibily because of the surgery but of course you should have been given the option. We have sent your suggestion and positive feedback to the Matron of Mulberry Ward so that she may share this with her staff. We look forward to welcoming you back in 4 weeks time. Best wishes Communication Department Darent Valley Hospital
