"recall attendance at breast screening services in nhs ayrshire and arran"

About: NHS Ayrshire & Arran / South West Scotland Breast Screening Centre

(as the patient),

I was greeted warmly by the receptionist and taken to the waiting area and advised a nurse would be with me shortly. In less than 5 minutes I was greeted by name and taken to a consulting room. Sr McGregor put me quickly at ease and gave me an outline of what may happen that day and realistic time frames. I was given privacy to change and shown an adjacent waiting room which was comfortable and had music playing. It had been told that the radiographer would call me and she did so very quickly thereafter.

Again with good explanation she led me through the repeat mammogram and checked the films with a doctor then and their. Examination and ultrasound carried out by Doctors Kelly and Evans who both had excellent manner, and the auxiliary was very mindful of my privacy and dignity throughout. I was given my results (verbal and written) at that same time and thankfully I did not require any further investigations.

This was a recall from my first routine mammogram and I was obviously anxious. The staff were well aware of this throughout and without exception were an asset to the NHS
