"The natural birth I had hoped for thanks to 2..."

Despite not everything going according to my birth plan because of unforeseen complications (my baby pooed inside)I had the most wonderful birth experience thanks to the 2 angels that oversaw my birth. Initially I had planned for a water birth and I used one of the two rooms with pools. The only criticism I would make at this point is that upon arriving to hospital a midwife told me to go back home because I was only 3cm dilated.Well I gave birth only half an hour later which shows that being 3cm doesn’t mean you can’t be close to giving birth, especially when I insisted that contractions where coming every 30 seconds!I just want them to have more empathy towards new mothers and keep in mind that not every first-time mum will have a birth that stretches for hours. If they had sent me home I’d have had the baby in a cab and without the assistance I needed to help me deliver quickly as the baby was in distress and I ended up needing an emergency episiotomy to get him out quickly!I pleaded and whined that I didn’t live close by and the midwife finally told me that they’d check if a room was available. One was and I was taken to a dimly lit (just like I had requested on my birth plan) cosy and squeaky clean room.I was left there for a bit during which time I was trying very hard to concentrate on my hypnobirthing techniques of breathing and visualising because contractions were coming very fast with almost no gaps in between.Soon two angels appeared and told me I was doing very well with the breathing, even though I only half-believed them because I was wondering how much longer of the intense pain I could take.I was lying on all fours on a sofa bed when they asked me if they wanted me to fill the pool.I said yes although something inside told me I’d have no time to use it.Just as I had suspected I felt a leak of water between my legs with the sudden urge to push(which also incidentally numbed the pain, which may have to do with hypnobirth and the oxytocins taking over, I’m not too sure). They checked me and found meconium in the amniotic fluid so immediately they told me I’d have to push with the next contraction.Relieved to see that I was already 10cm dilated I pushed eagerly but got nervous because at this point I could hardly feel the contractions so I think I rushed the breathing & pushing, although they insisted I was doing very well.Again, the two midwives were the most empathic persons I have ever met,softly-spoken, they encouraged me and said kind words all along.Eventually because things weren’t progressing quick enough they told me I’d have to be taken to the Labour Ward where they could monitor the baby and have the right equipment in case of an emergency. They explained it all in detail and waited for my consent on everything, really sweet &supportive, they certainly made me feel like I was in control, I'll never forget that! Big thanks
