"Sent home to sleep despite deep laceration to my face"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

In late October 2012, I was taken to Lincolnshire County Hospital with a deep wound on my forehead after a blow to the face. I waited until 6 o'clock in the morning, and had a dressing pad stuck to my head without them cleaning it.

At this point you could actually see my skull through the laceration. I was sent home to sleep even though I know realise that this is very dangerous especially since I was going home to my university flat alone.

I returned on in early November at 10: 30 to have my head stitched. By this time I noticed my forehead was very cold and when I touched the dressing it was saturated in blood proving that it had been bleeding overnight. I was given 8 stitches in my head and 4 stitches on the inside of my mouth as my teeth had come through my lips.

I was not given any x-rays and have since found out that I have fractured my two front teeth up in my gum so I now need root canal treatments.

I was not given any antibiotics or painkillers even though I'd hit my face off the tarmac which could of easily spread infection.

Being a student from Newcastle, it was my first and hopefully the last visit to Lincoln County Hospital and I don't really recall anything about the care that night being positive.
