I was visiting my daughter for the weekend and on the Saturday, 13 July 2013, we were in Clifton when I started to feel unwell with palpatations. I have had them before but not lasted very long but this time it was different and my daughter said we should go to A&E at Frenchay. I was not keen but agreed. We arrived and after speaking to reception I was very soon seen by the Triage Nurse who was very polite and put me at my ease and then taken to a cubicle to have my blood pressure and pulse taken. All the time I was told what was going on and what tests were needed and I was not to worry. The two people who particularly stand out were one of the doctors and one of the nurses who treated me with the greatest respect and explained everything to me which, at times, was not very pleasant especially when they had to give me Adenosine to reduce my heart rate. I felt I coped better because I had been told what to expect earlier and had some idea of the sensations I would feel. I was also spoken to another doctor and she again went through the procedure and reassured me that the tests were routine etc. I have nothing but respect and admiration for my treatment at Frenshey A&E and with so much bad press for NHS at the moment I just wanted the opportunity to say something really positive. Please pass on my heartfelt thanks to the individuals involved and, in the nicest possible way, I hope I won't be seeing them again in the near future but if I did I would not be concerned. Dear Mrs Neck – thank you for taking the time and trouble to advise of the care you received from the staff at A&E at Frenchay over the weekend. I am very sorry that you felt unwell, but pleased that all the staff acted in a professional way to ensure you understood you care plan, and that the treatment you received was beneficial. When so many A&E departments across the country are receiving negative press, due to the pressure they are under, it is reassuring to know the care provided by North Bristol Trust remains of a high standard.
