The department I attended had too few staff and too many appointments resulting in patients waiting hours beyond their appointment times to be seen - or not - as many simply left after a lengthy wait because of other appointments, work, picking up the kids. This wasn't a one-off, as when I attended for a further "appointment", I again had to sit for hours to be seen. Luckily, on the second occasion I forewarned my employer that I may be some time given my previous experience. Something needs urgent attention as this situation must be as horrendous and confusing for staff as it is for patients who, when they are eventually seen, are in and out within minutes, giving no confidence whatsoever that a full and proper clinical evaluation has been undertaken.
