"shortage of doctors"

About: Chase Farm Hospital

Anything else?

I was sent to A&E with a nasty leg wound. I was assessed quite quickly but the young doctor assigned to me and the nurses he passed the problem onto seemed unwilling or unable to treat the wound . Finally another doctor turned up and made a very neat job of replacing the skin. Unfortunately by that time I had waited several hours much of that time with the wound exposed to the air and in danger of becoming infected.. I can't praise the doctor who finally treated me too highly but there did seem a serious lack of experienced doctors or nurses able to confidently deal with an emergency like mine..

As an organisation we are committed from learning from specific issues and from any mistakes we may have made. Hearing about where we can do better helps us to pinpoint where exactly to make improvements to the service we provide. The Trust apologies for the poor experience that you had in our emergency department re the dressing of your leg wound but was pleased to note that the final management was well received. Your feedback has been directed to the appropriate manager to disseminate to their staff
