"4 hours in A & E for a 5 mins job of stiches"

After my mum fell over in the garden and cut her knee open I thought 111 would arrange an ambulance to see her quickly - an hour later they turned up to say u need to go to A& E. Off we go to Royal Surrey A& E where it took nearly 4 hours for my mum to be seen and have 4 stiches which took 5 - 10 minutes. I think people should be given an option to pay and be treated somewhere else quicker because we would have definitely paid to not be in A & E gone midnight!!
