What I liked
After arriving at A&E I was seen promptly by a staff nurse who acted professionally and compassionately.
What could be improved
Honestly- everything. I have complete respect and faith in the NHS however I came away from this hospital distraught and distressed. After arriving at the hospital with a broken wrist, once I been admitted to the orthopaedic unit it all went downhill from there. The staff- ranging from the general nurses to the orthopaedic surgeon- were dreadful. They were rude, arrogant and really couldn't have cared less-I felt like I was on a factory line being pushed through as fast as possible. After being passed from department to department it was an hour and a half before anyone even asked me if I was in pain and said 'it wasn't in their policy' to ensure that I was comfortable! I certainly wasn't. It got even worse when I went to the plastering room. Complete lack of knowledge and very rude from the plasterers- my GP and local A&E nurses were appalled at how they had set my arm. I had to pursue a complaint specifically about the plastering staff. Since that one dreadful and tramatic day I have vowed never to go back there. There are posters all around the hospital saying how they will not allow abuse towards their staff- but what about the patients? Where is our protection?
