"Dental Access Clinic - Doncaster "

About: The Flying Scotsman Centre

(as the patient),

I broke my tooth and was told to go the Flying Scotsman emergency clinic in Doncaster. When I arrived I asked where I needed to go and the security guard informed that that the service was not a drop in and that I needed to ring an 0845 number to make an appointment. As I don't have access to a telephone I asked if there was any other way I could contact the service and was told that this wasn't possible.

I did ring the 0845 number and was on hold for over 35 minutes. When I did get through I was given an appointment for the same day. I went to the service and was told that the best course of treatment would be to have the tooth filled until such a time that I could get in to see an NHS dentist. As I am in full time employment I had to pay the sum of 18 pounds.

The very next day the filling dropped out and I again rang the service for advice. After being on hold for over 20 minutes I was given an appointment to attend the service at 2. 15. When I arrived I was told that despite the filling falling out I would have to pay again to see the dentist. I waited for 30 minutes and was told at this point that the Dentist was running late however my appointment wasn't while 2. 30. When I questioned why I was told to be there for 2. 15 the receptionist said they always tell people to come 15 minutes early in case they are late and to make sure there is enough time to complete paperwork.

I asked for a complaints form and was directed to suggestions from which I completed.
