"Day Surgery Unit"

About: Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital

Anything else?

I had grave misgivings about having any form of surgery at this hospital because I had heard so many reports of people get infections. Nevertheless with a great deal of trepidation I attended the Day Surgery Unit and I have to say that from the start I was impressed with the way I was treated. Everything is done to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible with the surroundings and the procedure you are about to undertake. A nurse is allocated to you on arrival and is available to you throughout the procedure right up to the moment you are discharged. Equally, the clinical staff ensure that you are completely happy with what is going to happen. There is one minor downside and that is that there is quite a lengthy waiting period prior to surgery during which you are tormented like Tantalus with constant cookery programmes on the TV screen - somewhat insensitive to anyone having fasted for a considerable length of time! Overall though, a good experience and my thanks to all the staff without exception.

Thanks very much for your kind words; sorry you had to wait and were tormented with food programmes on TV! Sarah Mainprize
