"Rude and arrogant doctor on call at A&E"

About: Northwick Park Hospital

Anything else?

I took my daughter to NWPH on the 14th of March for blood tests whereupon after listening to her history she was referred to A&E on the spot, the heamatologist (abosolutely professional - would give him 11 out of 10) called A&E and notified them that he was sending us down and my daughter needed to be seen, this was at 11am. We were seen around 9pm only to be told that "we were wasting his time - he had dying patients to see" he abosolutely refused to look at my daughters file or notes and said if I wished to complain to go ahead....this exchange happened whilst he was doing his rounds with new interns! Even they were uncomfortable with this exchange as he was rude and extremely arrogant, - we were already distressed and did not deserve to be treated in such a manner - in fact no one does. I believe the hospital has a "Zero tolerance policy" for rude and aggressive behaviour - it seems this is reserved only for themselves - who protects us against them?? I have complained to PALS in March....we are in July and after constantly chasing have still not had a resolution, yet on one of the reviews here, they say to contact them for help....I ask what help? it beggars belief. Once upon a time NWPH was a great hospital, unfortunately with it is the likes of this doctor who abuse their position of authority that give NWPH a bad name.

We were sorry to learn of your experiences and will ensure that your feedback is passed onto the A&E management team for action. It is not clear whether you have raised your concerns formally as a complaint as you refer to the PALS service, and they usually aim to resolve concerns on a more informal basis. If you require any further assistance in relation to a formal complaint, please contact the Patient Relations Team on 0208 869 2026 who will be able to assist you, as they co-ordinate formal complaints.
